We dug our roots in Australia, where our sister company, Ortech Industries, developed agricultural fiber technology as a better way to build. After working with strawboard panels for well over a decade, Ortech's founders focused on the acoustic properties of the panel and embarked upon re-engineering the product specifically to enhance its natural acoustical properties. Today, Ortech panels are a simple, reliable and versatile building alternative that bring superior acoustical properties to a wide variety of building applications.
In Whitewright, Texas, just outside Dallas, Ortech partnered in 2000 with American investors to create what is now known as Durra Building Systems. The plant licenses the same product technology developed in Australia - and applies Ortech's four decades of experience in using wheat straw panels in commercial and residential projects.
Like its parent company, Durra continues to refine its production technology to provide better features that are making its panels and building systems a better choice for today's construction applications.
